Winter Walks Programme.

This is now complete and has been sent off to the area compiler. All scheduled (alternate) weekend walks have been allocated. There are some mid-week gaps though which have not been filled, particularly in February and March.

For some of the mid-week walks in the deepest mid-winter I've left the venues to be decided a couple of days beforehand, to allow for the prevailing weather conditions and the wishes of those wanting to go out. For example, if it's a fine day but with a chilling north wind, a walk along the shore, say from Aberdour to Burntisland and back, might be just the thing. On the other hand, if there's an east wind and the Forth is full of haar, a day out in the Hillfoots area might seem more desirable. Whatever, they will be familiar, local walks, though probably not recently recc'ed.

Long Weekend trip to Northumberland.

Unfortunately, this has had to be cancelled. There was not enough interest. For some, it was on the wrong date; for others, it was too expensive. I'll bring the topic up at the AGM (see below) to get views as to whether we should try again and ideas for where and when.

Christmas Lunch and Walk.

This has now been set up for a walk around the north side of Dunfermline to Townhill Loch followed by lunch at the Glen Tavern opposite the Pittencrieff Park Car Park. Details will be published in the winter programme.

Summer Walks

Despite the closed roads for the cycle race, the walk up Schiehallion went ahead, although we couldn't get to the start much before one p.m. The plus factor was that the mountain was relatively empty for a summer weekend. The weather also was very kind, with great views and ideal walking temperatures. Once again Jean and Helen's walk, at Braco on 24th July, attracted the most people - 19 including 13 of our own members. Of the harder walks, Schiehallion, Ben Lomond and the Campsies all enjoyed good weather. Loch Brandy seems to have been rather more stormy.

The mid-week walks are not quite as well attended but are acquiring a small but dedicated band of followers.

Annual General Meeting

This is scheduled for early December when (for a change!) I will be present as (outgoing?) Chairman. A further newsletter will be put on the website before then and the agenda will be sent out to members. It is planned to follow the meeting with the programme planning meeting for next summer. A saving on hiring the room and a chance for more people to take part in the planning.
